World Boss: Kaldros Depthbreaker
Kaldros Depthbreaker world boss guide — live since July 19 2026 on Vol'jin in sunken Highborne temple, Feralas. Water mechanics, custom arena, Normal/Heroic shrine, loot, and raid strategy.
Kaldros Depthbreaker — Live Since July 19, 2026
Kaldros Depthbreaker is live since July 19, 2026 on Vol'jin — the capstone Ascension-original world boss of launch month week two, after Soggoth and Snowgrave. The ruins of Feralas stand as a testament to Highborne folly; an ancient entity beneath the waves sought power to drown Kalimdor — your raid ends that threat permanently.
Sink beneath the waves to discover a sunken Highborne temple, then navigate caverns beyond. Normal and Heroic difficulties are available on the instanced custom arena from day one, matching Ascension's Bronzebeard world boss pattern.
Location — Feralas & Sunken Temple
Travel to Feralas and locate the submerged temple entrance along the coastal cliffs. Open-world Kaldros supports 10–40 player PvPvE tagging — rival guilds may contest the kill under Hybrid Risk.
Prefer structured PvE? Use the nearby Boss Shrine to enter Kaldros's custom instanced arena — stronger than open-world, difficulty tier under your character frame, weekly loot lockout once credited. All participants receive Treasures of Azeroth.
- Snowgrave — July 18 frost giant (live)
- Soggoth — July 17 Darkshore exclusive (live)
- World Bosses — altar vs open-world overview
Encounter Mechanics
Kaldros blends underwater pressure themes with Highborne arcane bursts — expect add waves during temple navigation, soak mechanics in the main chamber, and raid-wide drowning-style DoTs that punish healers who ignore dispel rotation.
Assign two tanks for add swaps and boss taunt windows, three healers for sustained magic damage, interrupt teams on naga and Highborne caster adds, and at least one Support spec (Guardian Inspiration / Ranger Farstrider) for banner uptime during burst phases.
- Phase 1: Temple approach — clear empowered adds before pulling the Depthbreaker
- Phase 2: Submerged chamber — spread for arcane pools, stack for soak when safe
- Phase 3: Enrage — save bloodlust-style cooldowns and defensive raid CDs
- Open-world: Bloodforged bonus gear on contested tags; shrine for clean progression
Loot and Week-Two Context
Kaldros drops Ascension-exclusive immersive gear complementary to Molten Core and Mythic Dungeon farming. Compare against Snowgrave frost procs and Soggoth exclusive effects before vendoring.
With the July 17–19 world boss arc complete, shift focus to raid lockouts, Mythic+ keystones, and Post-Launch Progression weekly loops. Track future Vol'jin entries on the Vol'jin Live Roadmap.
