Profession Leveling Routes (1–300)
Skill-up routes for every Conquest of Azeroth profession — gathering, crafting, Woodcutting, Woodworking, and secondary skills from 1 to 300 on Vol'jin.
How Skill-Ups Work
Profession skill in Conquest of Azeroth follows classic orange / yellow / green / grey ranks. Orange crafts always give a point, yellow usually does, green rarely does, grey never does. Train the next rank at 50, 125, 200, and 275 or you will stall even if you keep crafting.
This page is the skill-up path. Pairing advice and Worldforged integration live on the Professions Guide and the Professions item page.
Gathering — Mine, Herb, Skin, Chop
Gathering levels itself if you stay in the right zone. Do not buy skill-up kits unless you are racing a raid lockout.
- Mining 1–65: copper in starter zones. 65–125: tin + silver. 125–175: iron + gold. 175–250: mithril + truesilver. 250–300: thorium in Un'Goro, Burning Steppes, EPL, Winterspring.
- Herbalism 1–50: peacebloom and silverleaf. 50–150: mageroyal, briarthorn, bruiseweed, wild steelbloom. 150–225: kingsblood, liferoot, fadeleaf, goldthorn, khadgar's whisker. 225–300: sungrass, gromsblood, dreamfoil, plaguebloom, mountain silversage, icecap.
- Skinning 1–100: starter beasts. 100–200: Hillsbrad through STV. 200–300: Un'Goro, Winterspring, Burning Steppes. Keep a skinning knife on every gatherer.
- Woodcutting 1–75: young timber in starter forests. 75–150: hardwood in Duskwood, Ashenvale, Wetlands. 150–225: Feralas and Hinterlands stands. 225–300: Winterspring, Felwood, and EPL old growth. Details: Woodcutting & Woodworking.
Crafting — Cheap Orange Crafts
Craft what sells. Grey vendor trash is a last resort. Check the auction house before you spam a skill-up that nobody buys.
- Alchemy: minor healing → lesser healing / mana → greater healing → superior mana → major mana and flasks. Herbalism on the same character pays for itself.
- Blacksmithing: rough sharpening stones → coarse / heavy stones → golden rod → mithril spurs and thorium armor. Dense stone from Burning Steppes is the 250–300 wall.
- Leatherworking: light armor kits → medium / heavy kits → turtle scale → devilsaur or tribal sets. Skinning is almost mandatory.
- Tailoring: linen bolts → wool → silk bags → mageweave bags → runecloth bags. Bags always sell. Save mooncloth cooldowns for profit, not early skill-ups.
- Enchanting: disenchant every green you will not wear. Skill on cheap bracer / cloak enchants, then rods. Partner with a tailor or run dungeons for shard food.
- Engineering: rough blasting powder → coarse / heavy / solid → mithril casings → thorium widgets. Pair with Mining. Tinker players should rush this first.
- Woodworking: rough planks → hardwood frames → treated beams → Worldforged housings. You cannot skip Woodcutting if you want this to be cheap.
Secondary Skills
Cooking, Fishing, and First Aid are free slots. Max them. Cooking buffs stack with flasks for raid nights. First Aid bandages still save solo leveling. Fishing is slow gold but feeds cooking and a few CoA quests in the new coastal POIs.
- Cooking 1–300: follow zone meat as you level, then Un'Goro and Winterspring feasts at cap.
- First Aid 1–300: linen → wool → silk → mageweave → runecloth. Buy cloth off the auction house if your class does not drop it.
- Fishing 1–300: starter ponds → inland lakes → coastal pools. Inland pools in Expanded Azeroth beat open-ocean AFK.
When to Stop and When to Push
Push gathering the entire way to 60. Park crafting at the next trainer breakpoint (75 / 150 / 225) until you sit in a city with an auction house. The last 25 points of every crafting profession are expensive — wait until you have a raid or Callboard reason to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reach 300 before level 60?
Gathering yes, if you visit the right zones. Crafting usually stalls on materials until 50–60.
Which profession is cheapest to 300?
Skinning and Woodcutting. Enchanting is the most expensive unless you dungeon for shards.
Do I need to unlearn to swap?
Yes. You lose skill and recipes. Materials in the bank stay. Do not swap a 250+ craft lightly.
Is Woodworking required for Worldforged gear?
Some housings and weapon cores need it. You can buy those crafts on the auction house instead.
